Gunmen jack proceeds of D.J. competition
The nation’s largest broadcasting company, R.S.V. Ltd. suffered a blow in July when its Cahal Pech entertainment complex in San Ignacio was set ablaze by a disgruntled patron. This weekend disaster struck again in Cayo as the proceeds from a Love FM sponsored event were jacked at gunpoint. According to police reports, entertainment coordinator Edith Tesecum had left the venue of the 2003 D.J. Competition at around three-fifteen Sunday morning. When she was about to enter her hotel room she was accosted by two men wearing masks, one armed with a shotgun and the other a handgun. Tesecum handed over three thousand dollars and two cell phones, while two friends who were with her were forced to give up a gold chain, watch and another cell phone. The gunmen left the scene on foot. One person has been detained for questioning in the incident.
