Shooting death appears to be suicide

Story Picture
Three days after the tragedy, there are more questions than answers surrounding the shooting death of nineteen-year-old Albert Hoy The Third. On Friday evening the S.J.C. Junior College student’s body was found lying in the corridor of his house at the corner of Slaughter House Road and Cleghorn Street in Belize City. Hoy had suffered a single gunshot wound to the right side of his head. Although the young man was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, he died on the way. According to the Hoy family, they do not believe the initial reports that their son committed suicide. In fact family members say their son was a happy individual who always helped others, while making the extra efforts to excel in his studies. So what could have possibly happened? What we do know is that on the evening in question Hoy was in the company of a friend named Joshua. According to the family, their son had gone upstairs to change his shirt, but within a few minutes of heading to his bedroom, a gunshot was heard. The friend was then seen running out of the house. The police picked him up on Saturday and questioned the teenager, but have since released him, saying that no foul play is suspected. Today a post-mortem examination was conducted on Hoy’s body, but according to a source, the autopsy was not conclusive on the subject of suicide. Albert Hoy The Third will be laid to rest on Tuesday following services at S.J.C.’s Fordyce Chapel at three p.m.
