Blackman Eddy Remains are of a Woman Who Died Horribly

The recent murder of Keonia Ara was particularly gruesome, but body parts found in the river behind Blackman Eddy this week, tell the tale of a most gory murder.  On Tuesday, arms and legs were found floating in a sack and on Wednesday, a decomposing torso was found in a sack submerged in the water. We can now confirm that the body parts are those of a female. Police are still looking for the head, thighs and upper arms that appear to have been sadistically and surgically cut and disposed of in the river. News Five’s Duane Moody returned to the site and has the following update.

A post mortem conducted on body parts discovered over the past two days in the peaceful village of Blackman Eddy in the west has confirmed that the remains are that of a female of fair complexion. The woman was dismembered and disemboweled, but not before being stabbed multiple times to the chest. That’s the information coming out of the police department as one of the most gruesome finds in recent times across the country.

The initial discovery was made on the afternoon of Tuesday by a group of seven residents who were along the bank of the Belize River catching iguanas.

“We went across to see and then the guy over there, my neighbor saw it first. He then told me to come on and watch this. So we went and when I saw it was a hand, lone fingers and a foot. And so we decided to go around and decided to go around to go get some help. So that’s all we did. We called the police and waited there until they arrived and showed them.”

“It was in a sack?”

“It was in a sack, yeah; the twenty-pound sack. The hand was like…you know something scary like that.”

By Wednesday morning, a joint search team of B.D.F. and Police personnel, discovered a decomposing torso submerged inside a sack about three hundred meters from the initial find. It is believed that the torso and the hands and feet are of the same person, but that is yet to be forensically validated.

So far only the legs, torso and forearms of the woman have been recovered. Both upper arms, both thighs and the head have still not been located and it is not known if those too were stuffed away in a bag and dumped. It is a most tragic and callous way for anyone to be killed.

The police have no records of any missing person and villagers are worried about the occurrence.

“It was a frightening experience for me in that river mien. Never ever been…the only time was that [time] when I was young that one of my colleagues drowned there when they found him there. That was the only time I saw that.”

“He’s still shaken up due to – we not even recover fully from my daughter and then for him to come up on this – he’s still shaken up.”
