Guyanese attorney appointed as new Solicitor General
Since the resignation of Tanya Herwanger in June of 2008, the country has been without a Solicitor General. A year later, the Barrow Administration has finally found a replacement. His name is Oscar Ramjeet and he got the green light from Cabinet this past Tuesday. The Guyanese born Attorney and Journalist served six years as Solicitor General and Acting Director of Public Prosecutions in St. Vincent & the Grenadines and also writes a column for Caribbean Net News. Prime Minister Barrow believes Ramjeet will be able to properly execute his duties and stand up to the challenges that come with his new post.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“We’re happy we have at long last been able to secure the services of an experienced professional. His career trajectory is quite distinguished and we expect that he will do very well and we expect that the pressure on government in all sorts of ways will, with his appointment, be greatly relieved.”
