Not Expelled, Bishop Martin Students in Pregnancy Case Stay Out of School

Two teenagers, a male and a female second form student attending Bishop Martin High School in Orange Walk Town, remain out of school tonight on their own will, following the discovery that the fourteen-year-old girl is several weeks pregnant.  According to Principal Luis Pook, the young boy, whom it is believed impregnated his classmate, has since withdrawn from attending classes.  The girl, who is reportedly completing her first trimester, has also chosen not to return to school.  Today, Bishop Martin High School confirmed that it has not expelled either student.  The head teacher reiterated that there has not been any expulsion at the secondary institution since he took over as principal seven years ago.  Furthermore, dismissals are decided upon by the school’s board of directors.  In this case, the committee has not met to discuss the matter, let alone decided the academic fate of the two students.
