Foreign Minister busy at U.N.
In diplomatic news, Foreign Minister Godfrey Smith is in New York heading Belize’s delegation to the fifty-eighth session of the United Nations General Assembly. While Smith will deliver his formal address next Tuesday, he has been busy as pro-tem chairman of the Central American Integration System’s Foreign Minister Group. In that capacity he will convene meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powel, as well as the three person European Union ministerial delegation. Smith also attended a gathering of CARICOM Foreign Ministers, as well as several bilateral meetings. The Belize delegation includes Ambassadors Assad Shoman, Stuart Leslie and Moises Cal.
