Cawich tops P.U.P. convention in Cayo South
The mystery over who will represent the People’s United Party in the upcoming by-election in Cayo South is over. Joaquin Cawich, son of the late Agripino Cawich, earned the right to seek his father’s old seat in the House when he defeated Sam Waight and Carlos Santos in Sunday’s convention. The final tally was seven hundred and thirty-five for Cawich, four hundred and eighty-seven for Waight and one hundred and forty-three for Santos. Cawich will square off against veteran U.D.P. standard bearer, John Saldivar.

“This was about team work. This is about unity. This is about the P.U.P. All of us are one big family, one big happy P.U.P. family. Together as brothers and sisters, we will be victorious on by-election day, October or November, whenever the Prime Minister calls it. Continue the good work as a team, as a family and as a P.U.P., brothers and sisters. Thank you very much.”
