Two Drowning Incidents Reported in Cayo District
Two young persons lost their lives on Sunday in separate drowning incidents in the West. On Sunday, April thirtieth, Police visited an area in the Banana Bank road where they saw the lifeless body of a girl. According to Police, Armando Lopez of Valley of Peace reported that he and his children were at the river when he heard screams and saw that the children were being swept away by the current. Lopez was unable to save his eleven-year-old daughter identified to be Sandy Lopez. In the second incident on Sunday, Police say that sometime around five that evening sixteen-year-old Joseph Vacaro of Belize City drowned while he was swimming in the vicinity of Hammock Bridge in Roaring Creek.
