National Festival of Arts ends with lots of prizes
The three-day National Festival of Arts finished its run today with another round of performances from primary schools around the country. This morning, students from Cayo as well as a few from Belize district delighted the audience with several creative and original pieces. Today’s show lasted an impressive time of over three hours and as anticipated, the performances were just as extraordinary as the earlier presentations from other areas of the country.

The best of the best presenters and schools from the five participating districts received awards of recognition from NICH and the Ministry of Education for competing in the festival. The Belize Bank Limited also donated two Acer computers to the festival.

“This computer, there were two of them donated to the Belize District Festival of Arts from the Belize Bank and one was given away yesterday to zone one for them to use for festival purposes, for being one of the best organized zones in the Belize District Festival. And this one today I am asking somebody from zone four to come up and receive it. Zone four and zone six you are being recognized as the two best organized zone festivals in the Belize District area. Somebody from zone four; zone four has in Hattieville and those schools.”

“I just like to congratulate all the students and the teachers for a job well done being at the show yesterday and today. I’m just so happy to see so many of our Belizean children in the arts. And on behalf of the Belize Bank, I’d like to present Ms. Neal with this Acer computer.”
At the end of the day, not only the audience left delighted, as several participants were awarded prizes courtesy of the Ministry of Education and Grace Kennedy Ltd. Some students also received scholarships to the Summer Arts Institute courtesy of the Institute of Creative Arts. Duane Moody, reporting for News Five.
