Guatemalans Storm Otoxha for Farm Land

There is news tonight of a civilian incursion of Belize by Guatemalan farmers seeking greater pastures in the south. The village of Otoxha has been dealing with a takeover of acres of territory.  So far, the situation has not come to blows, but it is further evidence of what some have called ‘peaceful conquest’ of Belize by Guatemala at the expense of local farmers.  News Five spoke to Wil Maheia of the Belize Territorial Volunteers by telephone for details. He told us that the Guatemalan farmers are building a ‘picado’ road connecting Belize to Guatemala.

On the Phone: Wil Maheia, Belize Territorial Volunteers

“The villagers, they came to see me; they told me that there were Guatemalans looking to invade their village and clearing land to make pastures and they wanted to know if we could do something about that. I asked them where the land clearers came from and they said they were Guatemalans and they really would not want that to happen in their village, because they noticed that when this happened in Jalacte and San Vicente, the villagers didn’t do anything, and now they can’t get the Guatemalans out of their village. So they don’t want that to happen to them; so they asked if we could do something about it – so I said, first let’s go and see it; and then maybe we could report it to the authorities and then hopefully they would something about it.  On Sunday, an expedition of B.T.V. personnel and villagers made the trek to the borderline itself, and there is where we noticed the incursions by the Guatemalans.”

Reporter

“Did they say how long this had been taking place? Is it recent?”

On The Phone: Wil Maheia

“Yes, this is recent; this is within the last two weeks. They heard about it about two weeks ago; the village police and the alcalde along with the chairman, they went to see it, to verify and then they contacted us.”

This is sickening! Terribly, terribly sickening. The Belizean government(s) are an embarrassment to the nation. How could this even be possible??

Don’t have to go as far as Toledo. Guatemalans and other central Americans are taking over our reserves in Belmopan. They took over the Maya Mopan area reserve. now they Taking the Piccini area reserve. This is happening in our Capital and nothing is being done, What do you thing will be done in a remote area?
They squat then no body moves them. Belizeans can even get a piece of land to build their residence.

That’s what is happening in the U.S. and we get vilified if you protest

Don’t worry so much about it, you have always been Guatemalan. It just happens to be that the English imperialist came over and used african slaves to cut wood north of belize, then like a plague took spread to the south and set borders anyway they pleased, of course there was no match to stand up to their imperial army they set their way just like with the Malvinas.

Fortunately they were taken over by the Germans in WW2, too bad it wasn’t forever. At least they got a little bit of their own medicine for a short while.
