Restaurant and water truck held up
A Zeta water truck was held up on Wednesday afternoon in Belize City. Driver, Mauricio Sanabria, told police he and his co-worker had just approached the intersection of Seashore Drive and Keating Crescent when two men came up to the truck. One of the men pointed a handgun at Sanabria and ordered him to get out. Although he complied, the man hit him over the head with the gun, knocking Sanabria unconscious. He then stole a bag containing two hundred dollars, a wallet with an additional one hundred and forty-dollars, a gold chain and medallion, and some personal documents. The robber also took a cell phone and wallet from his co-worker, Jose Samuel Rosales. The pair then fled the scene.
A downtown restaurant was also robbed, this time on Thursday. Ana Ruth Garcia, a waitress at River Bottom Lounge on Regent Street, told police she was in the restaurant with two other waitresses and two customers when two men with guns entered the front door, and another pair of unarmed men came in through the back entrance. One of the men put a gun to Garcia’s head and relieved her of her cell phone. The same man then took five hundred dollars from the cash register and robbed another waitress of a cell phone. The group then exited the building.
