Two detained for attempted hit on Magistrate
Police have detained two suspects and a vehicle matching the description given by Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord, following an attempt on his life over the weekend. However, Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid told News 5 it might be difficult to press charges against the men because there are no eyewitnesses. The Chief Magistrate reported that he was relaxing on his veranda around six Saturday evening when a black car with tinted windows stopped in his driveway and five shots rang out. He hit the floor and the vehicle sped away. According to Magistrate Lord, Saturday’s incident was the third attempt on his life. The last incident happened twenty years ago when he worked in Orange Walk Town.
