Chon Saan Owner Closes Book on Immigration Department Sale
As we reported at the end of April, the Immigration Department has decided against buying over the Chon Saan Palace building for use as its headquarters in Belmopan. It is owned by President of the Senate Lee Mark Chang, who had offered one point six five million dollars for a buy-out, a price Government was not willing to meet. Chang told us today that he considers the matter at an end and that he has already found another buyer.
Lee Mark Chang, President of the Senate
“We were in negotiation; there was never any agreement, as I said before. The price that I was trying to lobby for was one point six five (million dollars); Government said they wanted a lower price and I said I can’t agree, so we moved on. I have a verbal agreement with a new tenant coming in and they will take over the place. That’s that.”
