Opal Enriquez Out as Pageant Director

Elrington and Malik take the position that the May twenty-sixth release was not authorized and nothing in it is official, and that as far as they are concerned Enriquez has resigned and her position is vacant. Elrington told us that he could shed no light on the reason for the two-thousand word release, as the last he had spoken with Enriquez; she informed him that she was resigning as pageant director. Now he hopes that the reconciliation process can begin among all parties.

“No decisions were made so far that we would be handing over the title; again, that was a decision that was made unilaterally, and we, after we consulted, both of us, the two thirds of the partners, made the decision that everything would proceed as normal – we would continue through the normal course of business. We have accepted her resignation as pageant director, and what we will be doing in the next week or two is to find somebody competent to fill in the position so that we can proceed with business as usual.”

“That is our full intention.  I do not know what was the reasoning; we had no prior information that there would be such a release. I had previous information that Miss Enriquez had indicated to me earlier in the week that she was going to step down as pageant director but she had also written back to me again and said she would not, and that was the extent to what she told me would be in the release. And that was her personal decision, not a company decision and not one we could intervene with in any way. And so far as the reasoning for the release, I have no idea; again, it was unsanctioned and we had no information of.”

As far as runner-up Marcia Moody assuming title as Miss Belize 2017, that won’t happen since Rebecca continues her reign.
