Belizean and Mexican youths meet in Corozal
Young people from Belize and Mexico will spend the next few days together as part of a youth exchange now taking place in the village of Sarteneja. Inauguration ceremonies were held on Thursday in Corozal Town at which officials from both countries offered their best wishes for the endeavour, which is designed to foster cultural interaction and self-respect among the participants. Speaking on behalf of Quintana Roo’s Department of Families and Children was Leslie Hendricks, daughter of the state’s governor.

“I am very proud to be here and I love having this idea. Being together, Belize and Mexico, we can get better people; we can be better young people. And I hope sincerely for all of you that when you go back you are better people and you can share this with your families, with your friends and with your Mexican new friends too.”
Belizean officials at the opening included Corozal southwest area rep Gabriel Martinez, Minister of State Ismael Cal, and Executive Director of Youth for the Future, Nuri Muhammad.
