Cops catch car theft suspects
Police have also been successful in solving a type of crime that not long ago was virtually unknown in Belize: that is car theft. On Saturday night Michael Congers of Sittee River reported that two men entered his home, beat him, robbed him, took his keys and then drove off in his pickup. Today police announced that they have recovered the stripped vehicle, as well as the two men believed to have stolen it. Twenty-four year old Dean Ramos and twenty-one year old Albert Codd, both of Sittee River, have been charged with robbery, while three suspects have been detained in Orange Walk pending charges of handling stolen goods. The remains of the pickup were found outside of Orange Walk Town in separate garages in the Village of Carmelita. Police believe the gang may have been involved in a number of vehicle thefts.
