Victim’s wife, brother charged in murder

Today Corozal police made two arrests in connection with the murder of Wilfredo Baeza. They are thirty-six year old Tomasita Villanueva and her twenty-two year old brother, Giovanni Villanueva. It was strongly suspected that Tomasita, who was home at the time of the killing on Saturday evening, may have been involved, and investigators believe that Giovanni was the triggerman. Police would not comment on why they suspect Villanueva wanted her partner dead, but they have charged her with abetment and conspiracy to commit murder. Giovanni has been charged with murder, as well as conspiracy. Baeza, who was an amputee, was shot twice in the head and back while taking a shower at his home.
