Bzean businessman dies in accident in Guatemala
A Belizean businessman has died in a traffic accident in the Peten district of Guatemala. Family members say Daniel Choe was only minutes away from his destination when the crash occurred. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods spoke to the grieving relatives this afternoon.

On Thursday morning, well known Belize City businessman, forty-six-year-old Daniel Choe, the owner of Korea Electronic store, was on his way to pickup his wife at the Guatemalan and Honduran border. But somewhere between the Guatemalan villages of Flores and Poptun, the vehicle Choe was travelling in overturned. Choe received serious head and neck injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he died while undergoing treatment.

“Like fifteen minutes before he reached Poptun Village he lose control of the vehicle and overturned. He was still alive when they took him to the Poptun hospital, but they couldn’t do anything about it and after like thirty minutes he passed away.”
Pedro Choe says the family will continue with his brother’s popular electronic business.

“Well we have to move on and keep the business alive. Me and my sister-in-law gonna gather strength and keep going.”

“Is it true that at the time of his death he was applying for a licence to open an all Christian Spanish radio station?”
Pedro Choe
“Yes, that’s true. He was very much active in the Christian community and he was very liked. But we’re gonna keep on the project, that was his project so we’re gonna keep on going.”

Daniel Choe is survived by his wife Cecilia and five children. Funeral services for Choe will be held at Eagle’s Nest Church on the Northern Highway at three p.m. on Sunday.
