Is Mayor Bradley Ashamed of Gov’t? P.U.P. Ready to Pounce
Mayor Bradley is presently out of the country and city residents will have to wait until he gets back to hear his explanation. But one possible reason is that the tough-talking administrator is no stranger to taking hard stances against his party. Recently, he was among those who openly cried shame on members of the U.D.P. who participated in the attack on the press at the May seventeenth Senate Committee public hearing. Bradley stated that their misadventures affect him as a member of the party and subverted the process of truth-finding that the Committee is undertaking. He has also expressed misgivings about working with his fellow councilors, comparing it to a bad marriage. With Bradley seemingly apparently out, can the People’s United Party capitalize? Leader John Briceño says they are searching for the right candidates to pull off what would be a sensational upset.
John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader
“I have not spoken to Mayor Bradley to get his views as to why he has not put in his name and considering whether he should or not; but it could be that he is ashamed of his Government. He is ashamed of how his Ministers have been behaving; he is ashamed of the corruption that is pervasive in every corner of the U.D.P. Government. I would be ashamed if I were Darrell Bradley and if I would be Darrell Bradley I would not want to be associated with some of them, that some people look at them almost as criminals with their behaviour. But I have not spoken to him, so I would need to speak to him first. As to our efforts, we have our deputy leader Cordel Hyde, who is working very hard, diligently, in trying to come up [with] a good team that can be able to fight the U.D.P.”
