Police seek three in Santa Marta murder

Police are looking for three suspects in the murder of a man in the Orange Walk District. According to reports, twenty-four year old Guatemalan Lazaro Miguel Martinez was gunned down late Wednesday night in front of his house on the Santa Marta Road. His wife, Sulema, told police that she and Lazaro were inside when the dogs began to bark in the yard. Lazaro went out to investigate and Sulema soon heard a single gunshot. She then found her husband sprawled on the ground with a massive wound in his abdomen. Without access to phone or vehicle, Lazaro died about two hours later. Police are looking for three men, one of whom allegedly threatened the shooting victim several days earlier. The body of Lazaro Martinez lies at the Northern Regional Hospital where it awaits a post mortem.
