Will leads help Police and family find missing Mark Pollard?
Superintendent Vidal also addressed the puzzling disappearance of forty-nine-year-old Mark Pollard who vanished approximately two weeks ago without a trace. The well-known man left his house on Peter Seco Street, Belize City, for his routine morning exercise to the Haulover Bridge and back. Surveillance cameras captured him running up the Phillip Goldson Highway, but never returning. Multiple searches have been conducted by relatives as well as the police and coastguard, but have turned up empty. Some relatives and friends believe that he may not be alive, while others are clinging to hope that he will be found safe. Today, Superintendent Vidal told the media that they are following some leads.
Supt. Marco Vidal, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South
“Searches have been done from the point where he had been last seen; it has extended all the way up to Hattieville and it was extended on the other end, all the way up to Haulover Bridge. This has been an operation which is being done jointly with the Coastguard and the family members of the victim. It has not given us anything as yet, but I will say that there are a number of information that is coming to us and we are pursuing every single information that’s coming to us. So we have still not left that to rest. We will continue to carry out what is required of us to investigate that matter further.”

“So it remains a missing person’s case?”
Supt. Marco Vidal
“It remains a missing person at this time, correct.”

“Sir, how long normally do these searches kinda play out for before the department decides that it will not use any more resources for the search of a missing individual?”
Supt. Marco Vidal
“Well there is no real limitation to that. It depends on the kind of information that we gather that will determine whether we need to extend the search or whether it is that we will pursue other direct information. But it does not mean that it ends there at any point. It is pretty much open.”
