At one time a trip to the recording studio was the burning ambition of every budding musician. But with the rapid advances in technology over the last decade, the ability to record and mass-produce music cheaply has opened the world of professional music to virtually anyone with a computer and creative mind. And it is just that combination that brings us the following story. Jacqueline Woods reports.

Kevin “K-Break” Lopez is not a household name…not yet that is. But this eighteen-year-old student has been quietly writing music at home with the hope that one day his talent will be exposed to the public.

“In a way I wasn’t really planning to make a career of this, right, but if my music takes me to that certain level, you know I don’t really mind going at it as a career. But for now, I mean I am thinking about staying focus on stuff that really matters like school and stuff like that.”
“There’s a lot of people just like me, who have that massive potential of doing something like this or even better. But I am a person, when I do something it takes a while before I try to come out to the public and say this is what I have been doing, because to a certain extent, to me, it seems like bragging and I don’t really brag about certain weh I do.”
The CD titled Representation contains nine original tracks that talk about issues affecting Belizean youths. Lopez says they are all positive vibes and hopes his audience, both young and old, will not only enjoy the beat of the songs but also listen to the messages.

“My favourite selection on the CD would have to be Representation, the second track. I’m talking about my hood, the place I grew up at. And well Representation, Representation means that I am just representing the people that are affiliated with me on a music level.”
Lopez says depending on the response to his first CD, he will decide whether or not to continue producing albums. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
