Cecil Gill Charged for Murder of Philip Samuels

After two nights in police custody, Cecil Gill was finally arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court for the murder of his friend Phillip Samuels. Gill was taken to court at around ten this morning, but his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser was delayed until noon due to other high profile cases before the court. He is accused of stabbing Samuels on Monday night when Samuels intervened to stop a confrontation between Gill and a woman. The murder occurred at an apartment on Boots Crescent in Belize City where they and other friends were hanging out. The accused is no stranger to the court and was recently in jail for other offenses including a firearm.
