Falling scaffold kills construction supervisor
A post mortem was conducted earlier today on the body of a construction supervisor who died on Saturday at the Bliss Institute renovation site. According to co-workers, just after two on Saturday afternoon, site supervisor Crecenciano Zaraut was consulting with his boss, engineer Angel Garcia, in the centre of the building zone, when a forty-foot high steel scaffolding fell on the pair. Zaraut took the brunt of the blow. Both men were rushed to Universal Health Services, but Zaraut died despite doctors’ efforts. Garcia was treated for head injuries and later released. Zaraut, an employee of Delta Construction Company, had worked at the Bliss Institute site since construction started in February. His body will be transported to his family in Mexico City later this week. Workers at the site told News 5 that at the time of the accident Zaraut and Garcia were not wearing hard hats. It is worth noting that today in the wake of the tragedy, hard hats had still not become fashionable at the Bliss.
