“Dara” Robinson Sets Off on Ride for Hunger
Popular Belizean philanthropist Dara Robinson is preparing once again for the school year ahead by hosting the sixth annual Ride for Hunger. The event takes place this Sunday where the ride departs from the Marion Jones Sporting Complex at six o’clock in the morning. This afternoon, Dara stopped by our office to make a special appeal to you. He wants you to join him this weekend by registering for the Boom/Hattieville ride. All monies and proceeds will go towards Dara’s feeding program.

“This Sunday, August thirtieth we gather in front of the Marion Jones Stadium from five o’clock where there will be registration. We plan to leave from deh six o’clock sharp with the escort of police and ambulance and everything. This ride leaves from the Princess Margaret Drive where we take a right into the Phillip Goldson Highway, we past Ladyville, take a left into the Boom/Hattieville Road where we take a break at CDS Gas Station. The reason fi di break da fu two thing, da fu people weh maybe get tired we have wahn truck behind weh dehn could go een and da fi also di people dehn weh join eena Ladyville and Boom dehn could still register. We di ker wahn young lady pan di ride that if yoh noh have wahn wristband, she wahn approach yoh and ask if you wahn register. From deh wih continue to George Price Highway weh wi mek wahn second stop da di Mile Eight community. Right deh so lotta people wait pan wi weh do di shorter ride and lotta kids join een from da area. Again, we di stress di people from Hattieville and from Eight Miles, same way dehn could register while di ten minutes break. We have wahn truck, like ah seh, weh di follow di ride fu people weh got bike problems, maybe lee cramps whatever and it’s not a race, it’s a ride and it’s for a good cause. We wahn stress, we di look pan safety so we di ask people fi wear wahn helmet. We also di ask people weh di ride, nobody fi di heng on pan trailer and trucks because we noh wahn nobody fall down and get hurt during di ride. We stress pan di registration because da during the registration da how di money raise fi di feeding program and we di tell people da ten dollars fi di registration and again we gather out da Marion Jones from five da mawning and we plan fi take off sharp six o’clock.”
