Belama’s Ryan Smith Pleads Guilty to Weed Possession
A couple living in the Belama area went to court this afternoon for two counts of possession of controlled drugs and one count of drug trafficking with intent to supply for a much larger amount. Ryan Smith and Lydia Young appeared before magistrate Carlon Mendoza. Smith pleaded guilty to the possession charges for two small amounts of marijuana recovered during a search of their home. Smith led police to the stash found on their television set, while the other amount was found in a pair of pants inside his room.
Magistrate Mendoza fined Smith one hundred and fifty dollars for each count to be paid by October tenth, 2017. For the larger amount just over two pounds of marijuana, Smith tried to plead to simple possession but his plea was declined by the prosecutor, who said they would go to trial at a later date.
