“Of course Milo has been associated with sports in the Caribbean and, as a matter of fact, all over the world for many years. And this contribution, we see it as an investment in the youths of your country. Milo has been with youths, and as a matter of fact a lot of adults will tell you that from they were growing up they have been associated with Milo and they love the product. So we see this investment as an investment in the future.”

“The donation that you got from Milo, how will it be used?”
Alfredo Acosta, Treasurer, National Sports Council
“It will be used in the national softball and basketball tournament, which will be held in Corozal. And the Milo sponsorship, will be used basically for basketball where the Sports Council will be dealing with all hotels, the uniforms for the teams and all the districts will be represented.”

“A donation like this, what does it do for amateur sports as far as the Sports Council is concerned?”
Alfredo Acosta
“Well it’s helping with the development of sports in Belize. We all know that the development of sports needs to start from the lower level and move up. And with help like this, it helps with everything because we have more district participation, you have more schools participating and it’s a big help for us at the Sports Council, to aim for the young people.”
The national primary schools basketball and softball tournaments will be held at the Corozal Civic Centre and Ricalde Stadium respectively on the thirteenth and fourteenth of June.
