Weed Not Decriminalized Yet: Businessman Zane Galvez Busted

Even as the Misuse of Drugs Act is in the process of being amended to decriminalize possession of less than ten grams of marijuana, today businessman Zane Galvez was hauled before the court for a charge of possession of six point two grams of cannabis. The twenty-eight-year-old Vernon Street resident appeared unrepresented this morning before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was given bail of six hundred dollars, plus one surety of the same amount.  The bust was made on Friday evening on Youth for the Future Drive in Belize City. Galvez is due back in court on October seventeenth.
