…And still has hopes for Port Carnival project

And while Luke Espat has headaches with government over the Commerce Bight Port, there appears to be trouble looming in regards to the Port Carnival Project. That’s because there are reports that Espat’s partner in the project, Carnival Corporation, has backed out. But while Espat did not volunteer a lot of information on that issue, he says as far as he is concerned, nothing has changed.

Luke Espat
“The joint venture as far as we know, that is in tact. That’s all we can say, we have no comment.”

Marion Ali
“But you’ve been—it’s seems it’s been a seesaw, this business. It’s been a seesaw situation for you since the breaking of the champagne bottle and the celebration that day in 2004. Aside from the investment of so many millions, not much more since that have been done.”

Luke Espat
“Like I said, the Belize Cruise terminal, which is what that is and that’s a joint venture between ourselves and the Carnival Corporation still exists as far as we know and that’s why we can’t comment on it. We saw the news last night but we are not at liberty at this time to make any comments regarding that. In the future we will of course.”

Marion Ali
“Okay, you are saying it still exists but Israel or Carnival is saying…”

Luke Espat
“But I have no comments, as I said, at this point. As far as we know, the Belize Cruise Terminal exists. That’s it.”
