Promoter cancels concert; no refund
Right now it’s one of those things at the top of the “Only in Belize” list. On Saturday night, music fans filed into the City Centre to tune into the vibrations of reggae artist Warrior King. But the “Shuba Shuba” star never did take the stage as minutes before he was due to start the show, promoters abruptly cancelled the event. According to Sekou Bird of Back-a-Yard Productions, only sixty tickets were sold before the concert, but by midnight a couple hundred people had showed up at the gate armed with what they all claimed were valid tickets. Bird says bootleggers had copied his tickets, and he, as a result, made the decision to call the whole thing off. So, what about the sixty people who legitimately paid good money to see the no-show Warrior King? You guessed it: they get nada, zilch, bupkus, zero. According to Bird, his tickets were not numbered and are unfortunately untraceable.
