Two charged in Cayo embezzlement
A major case of embezzlement has been uncovered in the Cayo District. Details are still sketchy but sources in San Ignacio indicate that two employees of the Belize Marketing Board’s San Ignacio Branch have been arrested and will be formally arraigned tomorrow morning in Magistrate’s court, charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. The two men, each 19 years old, are branch Manager Floyd Peters Junior of Esperanza and Assistant Manager Fidelio Montez of the Cahal Pech area. At present they are being accused of stealing close to seventy-eight thousand dollars of Marketing Board funds, allegedly pilfered during April, but sources close to the investigation indicate the final figures may be much higher.
