Jehovah’s Witnesses Lose Equipment to Burglars
Overnight on Monday, a burglary was reported at a house of worship in Belize City. Enterprising thieves broke into the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Cemetery Road and stole various electronic items which church members raised donations to acquire. This afternoon we spoke to church elder Abel Vera to find out what happened.
Abel Vera, Church Elder, Jehovah’s Witnesses
“They actually cut the burglar bars from behind the building and they gained access to the Kingdom Hall, where they went through and they took out all our equipment that we use for the sound system when we have our meetings, and also all our computers that we use to show the different videos in our meetings.”

“When was the last time you were sure the building was secure before the break-in?”
Abel Vera
“Monday the building was properly secure. It wasn’t forced entry on the doors, they actually cut the burglar bars.”

“And we understand that there was an alarm in place, because this was not the first time that your house of worship got broken into; what happened there?”
Abel Vera
“This is not the first time that they attempted to get in. we had installed an alarm system but for some reason it failed. So they took advantage of that to burglarize the place.”
The items are valued at more than eight thousand, seven hundred dollars. If anyone has any information on the burglary or spot any of the stolen items, call police or Abel Vera at 615-2463. Police investigations continue.
