Single Mom Robbed and Stabbed at Home

A forty-five-year-old single mother of Belize City is tonight recovering from multiple stab wounds to the neck following a home invasion at her La Croix Boulevard house in Lake Independence. Sometime after three o’clock this morning, Romie Anthony was asleep in her room to the rear of the building and when she got up to use the restroom, was surprised by two masked men inside her living room with her flat screen TV in hand. One of the burglars then pulled out a knife and stabbed Anthony three times to the neck before pushing her into the room where her hands and feet were bound. They then escaped with her TV, stereo and cell phones. Anthony told News Five that she managed to untie herself and then made way to the nearby police checkpoint two blocks down the street.  The robbers had gained access to the house from a window in the front of the building and had managed to dismantle her television from the wall. The burglars were dressed in dark clothing with masks covering their faces. Police are investigating.
