Man Charged for Assaulting Sp. Assignment Officer

Delbert Palacio

On Thursday we reported on a video that shows a man and a police officer engaged in a physical altercation. Well, that man has since been charged with a slew of offenses for assaulting a police officer. He has been identified as twenty-four-year-old Delbert Palacio, a security guard from North Creek. Palacio was arraigned this evening and appeared unrepresented in court where he was read three charges: one count of harm upon PC Fenton Sutherland; one count of resisting arrest; and one count of use of indecent words upon PC Sutherland.  In court, Palacio told Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser that he was never resisting arrest as he was already handcuff and could not do any such thing. Court Prosecutor didn’t object to bail and Palacio was able to meet bail of six hundred dollars plus one surety of the same amount.   Outside the courtroom, Palacio’s mother told the media that her son was riding a bicycle in the area of North Creek and Armadillo Street. She said that he wasn’t doing anything wrong and that the police turned on him for no reason. The cell-phone captured video shown here on News Five shows officers putting the screws to several young men in an alleyway next to Queen’s Square Anglican School on Armadillo Street on Thursday afternoon, as residents shouted and verbally accosted them for taking advantage. Shortly after, the sound of shots fired was heard in the video and that seemed to incite the residents even more. As was seen in the video, two men were hauled off in the back of the police truck.
