ComPol Directs Internal Investigation of Fitzroy Yearwood; Says Senior Cop Never Complained to Him
Will Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood be dealt with disciplinarily for publicly lashing out against the Belize Police Department in the media on Monday? The former Media Relations Officer has been at loggerheads with the brass of the department ever since he was summarily transferred from that post to a desk job at the Queen Street Precinct. His unceremonious removal came in the wake of information that he shared with the media pertaining to the Castro brothers, following an incident in San Pedro during the Costa Maya weekend. Since then he has been on the warpath and on Monday, Yearwood came out swinging against his superiors and in support of the media. Today, we asked ComPol Whylie if Yearwood will be sanctioned internally.
Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police
“I have heard what Mister Yearwood said. I have directed the Commander of the Professional Standards Branch that he must investigate and he will be submitting his findings and recommendations. The police department is a disciplined organization, if any officer is disaffected; he or she knows the process to seek remedy. I can tell you that I have never been approached by Mr. Yearwood complaining of any wrong or injustice done to him. We do have policies governing certain behavior and action and Mr. Williams will be looking at that.”
It seems this ComPol never gets anything. Reports, complaints, applications, etc. never seems to show up on his desk. He never sees them. Or maybe he just never cleans the work on his desk. I know of a license application that has been sitting on his desk for almost 4 years now. “Mi no kno” seems to work well with him.
