Haitian Taxi Driver Shot Critically in Lake I

The Belize Police Department has launched a new offensive on gang-related crimes in the city.  We will show you what is being done in an attempt to curb the spike in murders on the south side, but first there’s a breaking story to report on in the Lake Independence area, where the three recent murders occurred in a span of two weeks.  Just before five o’clock this evening a Haitian cabdriver was attacked in the vicinity of Complex Avenue and Jones Street.  Forty-year-old Odner Estizeine was shot once to the upper side of the back; he was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated.  Police arrived shortly after to process the scene. According to an initial investigation conducted in the wake of the shooting, Estizeine was driving a grey dodge van and upon reaching that intersection, he came under gunfire.
