Accused Attacker of Mayflower Street Mom and Kids in Court
A thirty-one-year-old mother and her two children ages were viciously attacked inside their home on Mayflower Street in Belize City. The culprit has been identified as the common-law husband to Nikita Smith and the step-father to her two minor children. He is forty-seven-year-old Mark Rhaburn Senior, a construction worker of Hattieville, who was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Aretha Ford for three counts of wounding upon Smith and siblings Veril and Jaheem Morris. Corporal Roman Andrew objected to bail due to the very serious nature of the offense and on the grounds that Rhaburn Senior may abscond. But Rhaburn Senior told the court he is ill, suffers from high pressure and over the weekend, he had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. He promised the court that he will not interfere with any of the victims and that he had moved back to Hattieville. But after due consideration, Magistrate Ford upheld the prosecution’s objection, denied bail and remanded him into custody at the Belize Central Prison until January, 2018. In the incident, Veril was stabbed to her ear, neck, head and back. Jaheem was stabbed to the upper side of his back while their mother, Smith, was seen with wounds to the left side of her head.
