Activist Justin Usher Denies Assault of Female Cop
Youth activist Justin Usher was today arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate Court for assaulting a female police officer. The twenty-six-year-old U.B. student from Los Lagos, Belize District was detained over the weekend after an incident inside a nightclub in which Police Constable Christal Noralez claims that he struck her on the chin. In the immediate aftermath of the alleged assault, Usher is recorded on amateur video condemning his arrest while still in handcuffs, outside of the nightclub. But in court today, Usher refuted the allegations as Magistrate Aretha Ford read him the details of the officer’s statement. Usher pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail of one thousand dollars plus one surety of the same. Today in an interview with the media, Usher says he is no woman beater and that the story is fabricated.
Justin Usher, Charged for Assaulting an Officer
“I am being wrongfully charged. A female police officer has made a false statement against me, fabricating a story to ruin my integrity and my reputation, to bring me down. I believe that it is a target because nothing happened as what she said happened and I just want to make it clear to the nation that if indeed what she said had happened, why am I not behind bars, why am I not locked up. If I was indeed drunk, why wasn’t a urine sample taken from me. Why wasn’t a medical report taken if she said that I hit her in the face? Why wasn’t that done? I believe that if I had really hit her, this is reality….come on, l if I had hit that female, they would not have dealt with me so calmly; I would have probably end up I n the hospital on the trends of other civilians that have gotten in confrontation with the police before.”
you are not behind bars because you got bail, no urine sample is needed because you were not detained for a traffic offence. you were totally drunk crying like a little girl after you hit a Woman Police Constable…
I would lay more charges on him for “Boisterous behaviour”, “Resist Arrest”, “Insulting words”, “Assaulting a Police Officer”.
