Driver in Andrews’ Couple’s Hit-and-Run to be Charged
The driver of a delivery vehicle that fatally knocked down Melissa Andrews, as she rode on a motorcycle along with her husband from Sittee River to Silk Grass Village last Saturday, has been arrested in Belmopan. Julio Choc faces multiple charges stemming from the hit and run incident and police informed the media earlier today that he was scheduled to be arraigned before the Dangriga Magistrate’s Court.

“A male person was detained yesterday at Belmopan. He was escorted to Dangriga Police Station where he will definitely be charged today and arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court. His name is Julio Choc, he’s a resident of Belmopan City. Likewise, the vehicle that was suspected to be involved in the accident impounded and inspected yesterday and is presently at the Dangriga Police Station. The guy will be facing a number of traffic offenses and will be taken to the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.”
Melissa Andrews died immediately from injuries received during the accident; her husband Allen Andrews is hospitalized at the Southern Regional Hospital.
