Evangelicals Believe They Should Teach According to Scripture
This week at its press conference, the National Evangelical Association of Belize spent much of its time condemning the plan to introduce decriminalization of up to ten grams of marijuana on private property, including expungement of criminal records. But it raised a total of six concerns about issues of family values that it feels have been neglected. One of these is what Pastor Lance Lewis called the right of church schools to teach according to Biblical scripture and religious convictions and ruling out teachings contrary to scripture. While it was not discussed in detail, the Association called on Government to recognize and uphold the traditional church-state relationship in education and parents to rally behind them in support.

“The right of church schools to teach according to Scripture and religious convictions, and to rule out teachings contrary to Scripture – 2 John 1:8-11; and Belize Constitution 10(3).”
Rick Novelo, Assistant Secretary, NEAB
“Our compliance as a church to every and any human institution will not surpass the sovereignty of our God. We as a church need to stand firm, just as when the Lord was before Pontius Pilate and he said I have the power to set you free. So we stand today and we say: any power that the Government has, has been given to them by God, our Lord, and they can do whatever, but one day God will hold them responsible for that. But in the meantime, we as the church will stand forever for what is right.”
Scott Stirm, First Vice President, NEAB
“Belizeans, parents, please understand: they are coming for your kids as the future clients; they are banking on your children as the foundation upon which they will build this marijuana economy.”
A Family Values Rally at the National Assembly in Belmopan has been scheduled for the end of November.
Enjoy your weed, Belize. Don’t worry about the religious people and their nonsense. They think destroying the earth with fossil fuels is OK but communicating with the universe with a little weed (a natural plant that’s a “gift from God”) is a bad thing. They have their priorities backwards.
Alcohol is much more destructive than weed. It destroys families and causes extreme violence. Marijuana has never done that.
