Hit and run driver charged in Corozal
A taxi driver who turned himself in to authorities following a fatal hit and run has been charged by Corozal police. Forty-five year old Robedo Maldonado has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, driving without due care and attention, failure to report a traffic accident, failure to stop and render aid and resisting arrest. The charges arise out of an incident Friday night on the Northern Highway in which sixty-nine year old Jesus Vasquez of Chan Chen Village was knocked down and killed by Maldonado’s car. That vehicle left the scene and was later found parked in another area of Chan Chen. Maldonado, accompanied by his attorney, subsequently presented himself to police.
