Toledo man critical after violent robbery

Meanwhile, another robbery has left an elderly man clinging to life. Reports are that the victim, seventy-nine year old Francisco Gutierrez, was manning his bar on Friday night in Cattle Landing, Toledo when a thief or thieves broke in, viciously beat him up, stole money and merchandise, then left him there to die. Gutierrez was later found unconscious and suffering from injuries to his head, nose, eyes, mouth and with a large cut wound on his left ear. Gutierrez has since been transferred to the K.H.M.H. were he is listed in critical condition. Medical tests have revealed that Gutierrez sustained a fractured skull during the incident and tonight he remains unconscious in the Post Anaesthetic Ward. Police had detained two suspects for questioning soon after the assault, but later released them due to insufficient evidence.
