Homeowner burgled in Sandhill

Burglars stole almost twenty-thousand dollars’ worth of valuables from a home in Sand Hill Village. Well-known education officer, Yvonne Davis, says she wasn’t home between Thursday and Friday and later received reports that several men with two vehicles were spotted in her yard between midday and about three on Friday afternoon. The burglars gained access to Davis’ home through the roof; they took two TVs, clothing items, vehicle keys, cosmetics, electronics and a number of other items. We spoke with Davis about the burglary and she told us that this is the second time her house was burglarized. She says she doesn’t know who cleaned out her belongings, but she hopes the culprits are found and dealt with by the law.

“I also learned that there were men in my yard and in my home moving things. People who were passing by noticed that there were activity and movement at my house. But nobody could have determined that it was a robbery or a burglary that was happening. Somebody saw a green mazda truck parked in my yard and somebody else saw a Green F150 truck parked in my yard and so I believed these were the vehicles used to carry the stuff out of my home. On that day they also broke into my parents’ home where my brother now resides. They went into his home through the back door and they took a number of articles. I am not sure if it is before or after they went into my home. So, the two houses were burglarized that day.”

“How did these men gain access to your home, Ms Davis?”

“The men came into my home through the roof. At the back of the house they climbed up unto my house. I have a bungalow house. They climbed unto the house and right at the corner where the roofing ends that is where they lifted the roofing and gained entrance into my house. They ransacked the entire house and in order for them to come out of the house they took down the lock from my security door which is the grill door. For my thing, I am going to go all the way to make sure that they are charged and justice is taken for the things taken out of my home. But more importantly, I want to sound the message out to those of us who have to work and leave our home in the day time. I guess we have to be a little bit more cautious in terms of how we secure our premises. I believe now we have to do what we have to do to secure our home maybe getting cameras, or dogs, or getting somebody to watch your yard. We just maybe need to do a little more.”
