U.D.P. demonstrates for minister’s resignation
Meanwhile, the United Democratic Party wasted no time in trying to capitalise on the U.S. action. With Party Leader Dean Barrow already on record asking for Samuels’ resignation, it was time for the minister’s local opponents to get on his case. This took the form of a brief demonstration downtown by supporters of Samuels’ opponent in the Belize Rural North constituency.

“We know for a fact that the Association of the Justice of the Peace have revoked Max Santos’ JP status. We know that the police have done their investigation and have submitted their report. We also know that the United States Embassy had revoked Minister Samuels’ visa. We want the D.P.P. to now act…We want to set the record straight that we have a zero tolerance where corruption and injustices are concerned.”
The protest lasted for less than half an hour and involved around twenty-five people.
