Police land multiple suspects

And while Davis’ immediate family believes that a close relative was responsible for his murder, police say they don’t have anything to corroborate that claim. But they are questioning several persons. On the night of the murder, police say they received a tip of a body in the area but didn’t find anything until Friday when they discovered Davis’ body. The angle of the land dispute is also something that the Police are following up.

“So far, Police have detained several persons in regards to that investigation. One was recently detained this morning and he is being questioned.”

Reporter

“The mother and daughter said that the police had gone there on Tuesday night; the specialized unit had gone there on a report that someone had been thrown in the sea in that area; is that accurate that such a report was received?”

“Yes, information was received that there was a body somewhere by Old Belize. So, CIB personnel and specialized unit went to the area and made checks, however, no one was found in the area and by the time we managed to call the person and spoke to him but we did not locate anybody there on that date.”

“Might this person have been witness to something or might they have been someone involved?”

“Well, the information we got was that he heard some argument there and so he called the police. That is all the information that the person provided.”

“Is his brother a suspect?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well, he was detained on Friday and he was questioned but he had to be released because we didn’t have any direct evidence to link anything to him so far. It is something that we believe was a land dispute. One of the brothers made a complaint about two months ago and he was sent direct from the lands department to the police department so they can follow up some kind of bad deals at the land department and we were following it up from there.”
