Cops crack down on marijuana growers
In other crime news, a Corozal marijuana farmer watched a big payday go up in smoke Wednesday when police raided his plantation on the eve of harvest. Forty-three year old Errol Acosta has been arrested and charged with cultivation of a controlled substance. That substance consisted of two thousand, five hundred mature cannabis trees ranging from six to eight feet in height. A further search of the farm, located six miles north of Corozal Town, turned up a bag containing an additional thirty pounds of compressed weed.
In another anti-drug operation, this time in the Toledo District, cops raided a field five miles north of San Pedro, Columbia and destroyed four hundred and twenty-five fully grown marijuana plants. No one was found on the premises.
