Ranchito Store Owner Robbed of Cash and Car
The proprietor of a business establishment in Ranchito Village was relieved of a significant sum of money and other personal belongings, including a Toyota Tacoma truck, during an armed robbery in the Corozal District on Friday morning. Twenty-one-year-old Jaxi Tan reported to police that while inside his store a few minutes before eleven a.m., three men walked in and pointed a firearm at him. They then demanded that he hand over money. Tan complied with the instruction and was robbed of seven thousand dollars in cash, his cell phone, as well as a red, 2014 pickup truck. The combined value of the items he lost during the heist amounted to fifty thousand dollars.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“I know that several leads are being followed and the police were looking for one person.”
Reporter
“Camera footage, it is said that there are several cameras in that area and that the robbery may have been captured [on camera]. Is that the case?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, but the police were in the process of reviewing the footage which is not of the best quality.”
Reporter
“So is it indeed the case that there was more than one person involved in that robbery?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, it was.”
Reporter
“So we’re only seeking, is it that the other people have been caught already? You say only one is being sought.”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well, the lead is showing one person in particular, that’s why we are seeking one person. We don’t know who the others are.”
