More good news for Wesley: computers

Story Picture
In news from the education front, this afternoon Wesley College joined its counterparts from around the Belize District as the proud recipients of new computers and internet service. The eighteen machines are part of the School Wide Area Network or SWAN program. According to Principal of Wesley College Brenda Armstrong, the new equipment will make a tremendous impact in her students’ curriculum.

Brenda Armstrong, Principal, Wesley College

“The population of our school has been growing over the years, and we have had a computer lab for years now, but the demands on that one facility has been so great. So this donation is going to afford us the possibility of widening our access, so that perhaps by September we will be able to introduce information Technology for first, second, third and fourth forms. Previous to this, we’ve only been able to offer second and thirds and fourth, and at the second form level it’s just keyboarding. So perhaps we’ll be able to do that. It also means that when we have research assignments, as was made reference to, we can insist that information is obtained from other sources, because with the internet access at no cost, or low cost, it will make it much more feasible to ask that of students.”

And with that end in mind, this afternoon, Wesley College also received a set college dictionaries and copies of the Belize Constitution…compliments of Mark Espat and the P.U.P. Albert Committee.
