Two major parties field full slate

And while we led this newscast with the phenomenon of independent candidates, we’ll end with a rundown of the fifty-eight men and women carrying the standard of the traditional red and blue.

We begin in the north: In the Corozal Bay division, U.D.P. candidate’s Carlos Castillo will face off with Vildo Marin of the P.U.P. In Corozal North, P.U.P.’s Valdemar Castillo will run against Nemencio Acosta of the U.D.P. Corozal Southwest constituents will vote for either Gabriel Martinez on the U.D.P. ticket or the P.U.P.’s Gregorio Garcia. In Corozal Southeast, in the blue corner it’s Florencio Marin while in the red it’s Servando Samos.

The ballot papers in the Orange Walk North division has U.D.P.’s Phillip de la Fuente against the P.U.P.’s Servulo Baeza. In Orange Walk Central, John BriceƱo of the P.U.P. is running against Miguel Urbina representing the U.D.P. Orange Walk East residents will chose between the U.D.P.’s Elodio Aragon and P.U.P.’s Dave Burgos. The choices for area representative in Orange Walk South, includes Ismael Cal from the P.U.P. and the U.D.P.’s Julian Padron.

In Belize Rural North, P.U.P.’s Maxwell Samuels will go up against U.D.P.’s Felix Sutherland. In the Belize Rural Central division, U.D.P. candidate Colin Gillett is set compete with P.U.P.’s Ralph Fonseca for votes. In Belize Rural South, Patty Arceo will lead the P.U.P.’s charge against U.D.P.’s Manuel Heredia.

Residents in Cayo North will decide whether to elect Ainslie Leslie of the P.U.P. or Dean Williams from the U.D.P. In Cayo Central, the Xs will either go Rene Montero on the U.D.P. ticket or to Mario Castellanos from the P.U.P. In Cayo West, P.U.P.’s Kendall Mendez will square off with U.D.P. man Erwin Contreras. In Cayo South, it’s John Saldivar from the U.D.P. facing off with P.U.P.’s Agropino Cawich.

In Dangriga, Sylvia Flores is running blue, while Russell Garcia is in it for red. In Stann Creek West, U.D.P.’s Glen Eiley will compete against P.U.P. Rodwell Ferguson.

In Toledo East, Peter Eden Martinez of the U.D.P. will battle for ballots with P.U.P.’s Michael Espat. In Toledo West, P.U.P. candidate Marcial Mes is set to meet U.D.P.’s Dennis Usher.

Entering Belize City limits, in Freetown, U.D.P.’s Douglas Singh will compete for votes against P.U.P.’s Francis Fonseca. In Fort George, P.U.P. Party Leader Said Musa is campaigning to beat U.D.P. aspirant Carlos Walker. In the Pickstock Division, U.D.P. Diane Haylock is slated to run against P.U.P. standard-bearer Godfrey Smith. In Caribbean Shores Division, P.U.P.’s Jose Coye is representing the blue, while Oscar Ayuso is all for red.

In Lake Independence, both Louis Anthony Leslie with U.D.P. and Cordel Hyde from the P.U.P. have their eyes on the area rep seat. In Port Loyola, P.U.P.’s Dolores Balderamos Garcia is gearing up to face off with U.D.P.’s Anthony “Boots” Martinez. In the Albert, incumbent Mark Espat of the P.U.P. will compete against the U.D.P.’s Marilyn Williams. For Collet constituents, the choice is either U.D.P.’s Patrick Faber or P.U.P.’s Remijio Montejo. In Mesopotamia, P.U.P.’s Phillip Brackett will bid to beat U.D.P.’s Michael Finnegan. And in Queen’s Square, U.D.P. Leader Dean Barrow and P.U.P.’s Richard “Dickie” Bradley will vie for votes.
