Hyde: University will outgrow teething problems

Story Picture
The long line at U.B. this morning was just one of several gripes expressed by students. But in the eyes of Minister of Education Cordel Hyde, they are the not unexpected problems of a young institution. Hyde is confident that the university will work out such glitches as it matures.

Cordel Hyde, Minister of Education

“There are teething pains associated with growth from infancy to toddler stage. And I feel that the university is experiencing those kinds of changes. But I think its push is in the right direction, and with the correct people administrating and running the programmes and providing the education, then I think that things can only get better. But of course the administration has to pay attention to what the students are saying, because those are the clients that the university really have to take care of.”

“Because we can’t just tell our students you don’t have to aspire to go abroad, you can do your education here, we have to ensure that the education here is of the highest quality. And that is where I want to see the university go.”
